Red Oaks Announce Key Staff Additions for 2026 Season
The Red Oaks are excited to officially welcome a new group of leaders who will help shape the future of baseball in Raleigh — and yes, Carl has already given his stamp of approval (after a thorough snack break).
Leading the way on the field is Head Coach Zach Joyner, a familiar name in local baseball circles. A former infielder at North Carolina Wesleyan and Louisburg College, Joyner brings three years of coaching experience and currently serves as an assistant coach at NC Wesleyan. He has played and coached for multiple summer collegiate teams in the Raleigh area, giving him a deep understanding of the local talent and baseball culture. Known for his energy, preparation, and player-first approach, Coach Joyner is focused on building a competitive, high-hustle team that represents Raleigh the right way.
Carl’s take: “Strong fundamentals. Strong sunflower seed game.”
Anchoring the pitching staff is Pitching Coach CJ Dibenedetto, who brings both high-level playing experience and proven coaching chops. Dibenedetto currently serves as the Assistant Pitching Coach at Montreat College and previously held the same role at North Carolina Wesleyan. As a player, he pitched at NC Wesleyan and SUNY Cortland, developing a deep understanding of how to prepare and compete on the mound. CJ is excited to build and develop the Red Oaks pitching staff with one clear goal in mind: competing for an ONSL championship.
Carl’s scouting report: “Throws strikes. Intimidating stare. Would not want to face him.”
Off the field, the Red Oaks are thrilled to promote Olivia Martin to Assistant General Manager. A student at Broughton High School, Olivia joined the organization as an intern last season and quickly became an essential part of game-day operations. From running the ticket table to managing concessions and merchandise, she consistently stepped up and kept everything moving. This season, Olivia will oversee all game-day operations while helping continue to grow the Red Oaks brand in the Raleigh community.
Carl’s official statement: “She runs the show. I just show up.”
Together, this group represents the heart of what the Red Oaks are building — local roots, passion for the game, and a commitment to creating a great experience for players and fans alike. With Carl watching closely from the dugout rail (or the snack table), the Red Oaks are ready for an exciting season ahead.
Stay tuned for more announcements soon — Carl insists there are plenty. 🌳🐿️⚾
